Update: Air traffic has resumed at the two airports in Germany, but there will still be canceled or delayed flights. Check flight status with airline operators!

Original story: Climate change protests taking place at two German airports have led to the suspension of flights in the midst of the busy summer holiday season. Hamburg airport has stopped all air traffic.

A federal police spokesman said flight operations were suspended at Hamburg airport around 6 a.m. (04 GMT) after nine unauthorized people entered an area near the airfield, eight of them sticking to the ground.

"Police are currently attempting to remove these individuals," the spokesman said. Hamburg Airport announced that most morning flights were canceled or delayed on Thursday morning in the height of the summer and holiday season. It is not excluded that during the day we will witness other canceled or delayed flights.

Air traffic at Dusseldorf Airport in western Germany has partially resumed after disruptions and delays due to seven unauthorized people entering the airport perimeter.

The protesters are part of the Letzte Generation (Last Generation), whose members have frequently stuck to roads and airport runways in Germany in a wave of civil disobedience.

In my personal opinion, these protests are illegal, extremist in nature, aimed at harming flight safety and endangering millions of passengers. Such people should be punished exemplary!
