The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the Hungarian authorities have revised the conditions for entry into Hungary, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting with May 22, 2021, the entry restrictions in Hungary were lifted for the Romanian citizens who present the vaccination certificate against COVID-19.

Thus, currently, Romanian citizens who have a vaccination certificate against COVID-19 issued by the competent authorities in Romania and certifying the completion of the complete vaccination schedule, respectively the two doses (in case of a vaccine given in two doses) (for the single dose vaccine), may enter the territory of Hungary without restriction.

Vaccinated persons are exempted from quarantine measurement or from presenting a PCR or antigen molecular test with a negative result for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection.. The document certifying the vaccination must be written in Romanian and English (bilingual document), be issued by the vaccination center in Romania, without the need to complete another formality.

In the case of Romanian citizens who do not present the vaccination certificate, the conditions for entry into Hungary applicable to foreign citizens are still maintained.

The Hungarian authorities have announced that the restrictions on entry into the national territory - applied from 1 September 2020 - have been extended until 22 June 2021. Thus, control measures are maintained at all land and air border sections of Hungary. .
