Eight million passengers passed through Brandenburg International Airport in Berlin in the first year since its inauguration

on October 31, 2021, one year after the inauguration of the Airport Berlin-Brandenburg Willy Brandt introduced the air traffic report. The first year of operation of the BER showed that the capital region has an airport with a functioning infrastructure. More than eight million passengers used the new Terminal 1 despite pandemic restrictions. A total of 74 airlines took off to 160 destinations in 53 countries. Around 24.400 tons of goods also passed through the BER.

The largest plane that landed at Airport Berlin-Brandenburg was Antonov AN-124. The airlines with the most flights to / from BER are: easyJet, RYANAIR and Lufthansa. The top destinations served by BER direct flights are Palma de Mallorca, Antalya, Amsterdam, Istanbul and Zurich.

The first year of operation had a single long-distance connection to Doha with Qatar Airways. Scoot, a Singapore Airlines subsidiary, recently resumed services in the Berlin Brandenburg region directly to Singapore. United Airlines will also start flights to New York and Washington from BER in 2022. Latvian airline SmartLynx Airlines offers direct flights to Dubai in winter.
