The history of the Christmas markets dates back of 1294, with the organization "December market”Vienna. Christmas Market is a market organized on the street or in a pedestrian area and is associated with the Christmas holiday. It is organized during the 4 weeks before the Birth of the Lord.
Over time, Christmas Markets have appeared and developed in Germany, Austria, South Tyrol, Northern Italy and the eastern French regions (Alsace, Lorraine and Savoy). Among the first Christmas markets attested were Bautzen (from ONLY), Frankfurt (from ONLY), Munich (from 1310) and augsburg (from NOTHING).
Over time, this custom has been adopted by more and more European countries, and Christmas Markets have also appeared in England, Croatia, Poland and the Czech Republic. In our country, among the most famous Christmas markets are in Sibiu, Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.
Currently, the most popular Christmas markets are organized in Germany, in Augsburg, Dresden, Erfurt, Frankfurt, Nurnberg, Dortmund, Cologne and Stuttgart.
