Coronavirus: Passenger air traffic decreased by over 70% at Otopeni Airport, Bucharest

As we have mentioned on several occasions, the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has affected the entire planet. People no longer travel, tourism is on the ground, airlines suspend flights for 14 days and more. Drastic measures are being taken to stop the virus from spreading. The health of passengers and crew is more important. In fact, the health of all is the most important. Healthy to be, we'll travel after the pandemic passes.

Inevitably, the new Coronavirus also arrived in Romania, and tourism and commercial aviation are the most affected industries. If there are no flights, airports will suffer.

Passenger air traffic decreased by over 70%

The traffic decreased very much at the "Henri Coandă" International Airport in Otopeni, Bucharest. According to Mr. Valentin Iordache, the spokesman of the National Airports Company Bucharest (CNAB), On March 17, 2020, there were approximately 8000 passengers. Compared to those 37 passengers registered on March 000, 17, the decrease is 70% -75%. And certainly the number of passengers will continue to decrease in the next period.

Starting today, March 18, 2020 (18pm), all flights between Romania and Spain will be suspended. From Bucharest, there were 55 weekly flights to destinations in the Iberian Peninsula.

But not only did these flights reduce the number of passengers, but also the fact that many airlines suspended their activity.

Starting March 21st, all Blue Air aircraft will remain on the ground until the state of emergency declared in Romania is lifted.
